Bill C-11: SOPA Canada

My comic this week (supersparkplug.deviantart.com/…) was about Online Censorship portrayed as a parody of a Kill Bill poster. Now you may have noticed that I put Bill C-11 on that comic. You probably don't know but that is the current upcoming revision to Canadian Copyright laws. However, Bill C-11 makes big changes that make it similar to the DMCA & SOPA. Our Copyright laws are messed up enough without this. I first became aware of this when Canadian Legal expert Michael Geist has reported on this on his blog (A very reliable source on copyright laws, especially on how they affect Canada).

Parliament is coming together VERY soon to discuss this. Please check out the following link that will give you more information about Bill C-11 as well as a link where you can send an automatic letter to your MP. Bill C-11 could lead to SOPA-like copyright rules with its provisions and threatens our educational system. It also is a big threat to New Media in general and what we can do with it. It only takes a few minutes to do. I urge you to do this and spread the word to take a stand against censorship in Canada.
